[운문 영번역] 쉽게 씌여진 시 - An Easy-written Poem

 

쉽게 씌여진 시 _윤동주

 

창 밖에 밤비가 속살거려

육첩방은 남의 나라,

 

시인이란 슬픈 천명인 줄 알면서도

한 줄 시를 적어 볼까,

 

땀내와 사랑내 포근히 품긴

보내 주신 학비 봉투를 받아

 

대학 노-트를 끼고

늙은 교수의 강의 들으러 간다.

 

생각해 보면 어린 때 동무를

하나, 둘, 죄다 잃어버리고

 

나는 무얼 바라

나는 다만, 홀로 침전하는 것일까?

인생은 살기 어렵다는데

시가 이렇게 쉽게 쓰여지는 것은

부끄러운 일이다.

 

육첩방은 남의 나라,

창 밖에 밤비가 속살거리는데,

등불을 밝혀 어둠을 조금 내몰고,

시대처럼 올 아침을 기다리는 최후의 나,

 

나는 나에게 작은 손을 내밀어

눈물과 위안으로 잡는 최초의 악수.

Outside the window a night rain is whispering, 

And the ten-square-meter room is overseas.

 

Knowing that being a poet is a sorrowful destiny, 

Let’s write a line of a poem,

 

With a note in my armpit, 

I go to an old professor’s lecture.

 

If I think about it, 

I have lost my childhood friends one by one,

 

I, for what, 

I just sink down alone?

It is said that living a life is difficult,

But it is shameful,

That the poem is written this easily.

 

The ten-square-room is overseas,

Outside the window a night rain is whispering,

It is me at the end who lights a lamp to ward off the darkness 

And wait for a morning coming like an era.

 

I give my small hand to myself, 

And it is the first handshake with tears and comfort.

 

 

-번역 후기

시구가 일단 한국말로도 그 의미가 불분명하고 일반적인 문법에 잘 맞지 않아서 번역하는데에 까다로웠다.

번역할 때 보통은 문장 그 자체를 어순, 단어를 바꾸지 않고 그대로 번역하는 편이지만, 이번 시는 약간의 변용이 들어가게 되었다.
